In which universe? Seems to me like jumper cables are almost universally owned among the subset of people who own cars. Maybe things are different down south.
It was odd. I was at a gas station vacuuming my car (doors open; lights on; battery dies), and there were plenty of cars about. But it seemed no one had any jumper cables (including the gas station). I was eventually saved by a guy driving a Republican-sticker-clad Volvo, so I think I have to be nice to Republicans for the rest of the day or something.
I like to assume that ALL people own jumper cables, and when one lies and says, "Sorry, man, I don't have any cables" it means, "Touch shit, man, I don't feel like helping out."
Although this myth is debunked: obviously YOU don't own any.

Ryan had an internet! If briefly!
TMK's experience doesn't match mine at all, in which jumper cables are owned by hardly any people who own cars.
Yeah. I'd believe the "don't feel like helping out" theory. I think I have 2 or 3 sets in my Jeep. Am I screwing up the statistics for everyone else?
i've got a set and at least 1 of my 2 housemates also owns a set.
