Zees

I can't sleep.

I haven't been able to sleep for about two weeks or so.

I sleep sometimes, of course, and even for long stretches (last night = 12+ hours!). But in general, I've had trouble going to sleep at night.

That's why I'm up at 3am watching Yentl on one of our last-remaining cable movie channels.

I'd tell you all about musicals, feminism, Barbara Streisand, Judaism, subversiveness, etc., but I'm tired. You see: I just can't sleep.

I've recently discovered Unisom. Well, not that recently, and while I hate the idea of drug-induced sleep...that stuff really works wonders. Or zzzzz's.

Thanks, anneth. I might be willing to pill it up if this problem persists.

I'm wondering if you take the gelcaps or the tablets? Apparently they use different active ingredients in differing quantities (Diphenhydramine HCI 50 mg and Doxylamine succinate 25 mg, respectively).

My instincts are to go with the gel, which seems more innately powerful (gel's not even allowed on planes!) and it's got more stuff in it. (This conclusion is based on nothing resembling science.)

Well Stanley I've actually tried both varieties. I'd have to go with the traditional pill form. They work quickly, and I think the meds in them are better in assiting with the sleep process. They will actually keep you asleep. The gel form's active ingredients are the same as Benadryl (sp?), and although that makes me sleepy, some people find it causes excitability and restlessness. Or you could drink some NyQuil. Green Death formula. yum.

dr. sebastian prescribes the following regimen for your parasomnolence:

1. 6 oz q1h fermented grape juice
and/or
2. 12 oz q1h fermented, malted oats and barley

plus

3. 1 artsy fartsy lefty propoganda documentary (Far. 9-11, Outfoxed)
4. 1 frozen pizza from Stanley's favorite Chicago pizzeria
5. 2 BJs and > 30 mins DHing

and if all else fails, you could always read Ryan's latest (and longest) blog over and over till the sandman comes and gets ya.

Sebastian: I think I've tried all of these, except your #5. What are you up to this evening? (And do we have to cuddle afterwards or something?)

too much paperwork! do you have any idea how many insurance forms we fake blog-doctors have to file just for a simple BJ/DH procedure? The coding is easy to remember though: 24-7-69. 24-7-68 for pediatrics.
